Competitive African Rice Initiative Commissioned for Second Phase

Over the course of the last three years, CARI and its partners have substantially improved the livelihoods of rice farmers in Burkina Faso, Ghana, Nigeria, and Tanzania

By applying a value chain approach and as a result of various trainings, input provision and linkages to off-takers and markets, 400,000 beneficiaries increased their incomes.

Thanks to the excellent project evaluation in February 2017, the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) has commissioned CARI for a second phase. With ECOWAS as a strong political partner, the project is looking forward to continuing working with stakeholders of the rice value chain, old and new partners, further emphasizing on experiential learning and exchange.
