SUMMARY:Promouvoir l'agriculture contractuelle inclusive

SUMMARY:Nature-based Solutions: The contribution of biodiversity to address societal challenges
DESCRIPTION:Online seminars on nature conservation in German development cooperation\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThe series of seminars on nature conservation in development cooperation has been held at the International Academy for Nature Conservation Isle of Vilm since 1999. It is jointly organised by GIZ and KfW on behalf of the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and the International Academy for Nature Conservation\, Isle of Vilm\, of the German Federal Agency for Nature Conservation (BfN). \nThe first seminar “Biodiversity conservation for human wellbeing” presents an overview and update of the most relevant concepts. Based on a combination of practical examples\, tools and trends in biodiversity conservation for human wellbeing and development\, it provides a good platform for exchanging experiences and updating. The second seminar is devoted to the in-depth consideration of a specific topic identified as being of particular interest. Based on on-going discussions in inter-national biodiversity policy fora\, the topic “Nature-based solutions” was chosen for 2021. \nMore information \nFlyer

SUMMARY:Practical Tools to Make Gender Transformation Work
DESCRIPTION:What are gender-related constraints and how can projects address them?\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThese were the kind of questions that had triggered SNRD Africa and its sister network SNRD Asia Pacific to set up action plans in support of gender empowerment and\, more specifically\, qualified gender in value chains training. \nThe eight-week-long online training attracted 70 participants from 22 projects working in 18 countries across the Africa and Asia regions. All of them drew gender-sensitive value chain maps\, conducted interviews with partners — for as far as Covid regulations permitted — and with a comprehensive case study of the respective value chain in their project developed a monitoring plan to measure results towards gender equality and women’s economic empowerment. The training was SNRD’s first online training\, offered in French and English. \nThe examined value chains were as diverse as potatoes\, groundnut\, abaca\, rice\, roasted cashews\, cow milk\, cassava\, or even honey. After the training participants shared with each other strategies on how they wanted to integrate the new knowledge in their projects and how they thought to best use the practical tools to work more towards a gender-transformative world. \nWith this widely offered training\, the two sector networks wanted to place the cross-sectional issue of gender on a higher\, more strategic level and to continue to support the new working group on Gender-transformative Approaches in Rural Development. \nWant to learn more?\nJoin our concluding webinar “From gender analysis to gender transformation – Knowledge snacks from the gender training in agricultural value chains” on  Thursday\, 20 May\, 10:30 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. CEST. You’ll get a chance to dive deep into the gender-sensitive value chain map and the Reach-Benefit-Empower Framework. \nAdditional information and contact\nThe invitation to the webinar and complete access to training materials is available to SNRD members. SUMMARY:Learnings From Africa’s ATVET Journey and the Way Ahead
DESCRIPTION:Upcoming webinar\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWorking in agriculture and skills development?\nDon’t miss this online seminar on Africa’s agricultural TVET journey! Join us as we review highlights and lessons learnt from the continental implementation of Agricultural Technical Vocational Education and Training (ATVET). Participants will get the opportunity to learn about the ATVET journey from classic TVET to championing gender-transformative approaches for women’s social and economic empowerment. \nDespite unemployment in many African countries\, the high demand for a qualified workforce in the agricultural sector is not sufficiently met. This disparity is partly due to a mismatch between education curricula and labour market needs\, particularly practical skills and work experience. Anchored under the Comprehensive Africa Agriculture Development Programme (CAADP) of the African Union\, the ATVET project was implemented to address this challenge in 12 African countries\, with support from GIZ until June 2020. \nTo achieve real impact for employment and entrepreneurship in agriculture\, ATVET focused on competency-based training along value chains to meet labour market needs. As part of the Skills Initiative for Africa (SIFA)\, the ATVET for Women (ATVET4W) is supporting the African Union Development Agency (AUDA-NEPAD) to continue these efforts with a focus on gender-transformative approaches in six countries: Benin\, Burkina Faso\, Ghana\, Kenya\, Malawi and Togo. \nATVET and ATVET4W\, both ambitious pan-African undertakings\, generated a wealth of good practices and lessons learnt on several topics\, including integrating ATVET into national policies\, partnerships for in-company internships\, competency-based training approaches and Gender Transformative Change in practice. During this seminar\, ATVET4W colleagues will share some of these key insights and point towards a plethora of knowledge products that GIZ colleagues can use for project planning and implementation of skills development in agriculture – including a focus on women’s empowerment. \nSpeakers and Inputs \n\nGeoffroy Gantoli (Regional Coordinator\, ATVET4W) will provide an overview of key results\, impacts and lessons learnt from the ATVET and ATVET4W modules\nJoan Githinji & Lamina Ratovonasy (M&E\, Comms & Knowledge Management Advisors\, ATVET4W) will present some of the project’s knowledge products as inspiration for other projects\nFrank Bertelmann (Programme Manager Global Project Rural Employment with focus on youth) will interview Miriam Heidtmann (Programme Manager\, ATVET4W) and Abdoulaye Yeye (National Coordinator for Burkina Faso of the Global Project Rural Employment with a focus on youth) to discuss the sustainability and further development of the original ATVET interventions.\n\nModeration\n\nSara Jabril\, Advisor (ATVET4W)\nRonald Kouago\, Junior Advisor (ATVET4W)\n\nHost\nGlobal Project Rural Employment with a focus on youth in collaboration with SIFA ATVET4W project. \nQuestions \nYou already have questions that you would like to ask the presenters? Kindly send them to julia.bayer@giz.de prior to the webinar. We’ll make sure that the questions will be addressed in the Q&A part of the session! \nWe are very much looking forward to discussing the inputs during the webinar.

SUMMARY:Les questions ardentes pour ABIVCD

\nFor privacy reasons YouTube needs your permission to be loaded. SUMMARY:How to Integrate Living Incomes in Agricultural Value Chain Promotion?
DESCRIPTION:Webinar #12 of the ValueLinks Plus series on agricultural value chain promotion\nWe will have a closer look at the essentials of the living income concept. How is it calculated and how are living income reference prices set up? Where are we at in terms of its application right now? How should it be applied in the context of the ValueLinks approach and what will be its likely relevance in future? \nGuests\n\nEberhard Krain\, GIZ Sectoral Department (Competence Centre 4D30)\nTim Loos\, GIZ Sector Programme Sustainability and Standards in Global Agriculture Value Chains\n\nModeration\nAlfons Eiligmann\, International ValueLinks Association \nHost\nCarolin Voigt\, GIZ Sector Project Agricultural Trade\, Agribusiness\, Agricultural Finance (SP AAA) \nIs this relevant to you?\nYou promote agricultural value chains development and want to learn more about the approach of living incomes?\nYou have no idea (yet) whether living incomes are a valuable aspirational goal to strive for\, or far from achievable\, or still not high enough to make a real change towards better living conditions???\nYou want to get an idea how the approach is used within project implementation for agribased value chain promotion\, e.g. in Ghana or Malawi? \nIf the answer to one of these questions is ‘yes’\, our webinar #12 will be worth your while! We will focus on the essentials of the concept\, explain how a living income is calculated\, how a reference price is determined and how it has already benefited countries to negotiate for higher commodity prices and encouraged our own governments to think of due diligence regulations. \nOur guest Eberhard Krain will explain the concept of living incomes\, the calculation of living incomes and reference prices and tell us about his country experiences from Malawi and Madagascar. \nThe second guest\, Till Loos\, provides insights to the cocoa value chain in Ghana and Ivory Coast. SUMMARY:Digital Applications in Small-Scale Irrigation
DESCRIPTION:Half-Day Workshop With Online Access\n\n\n\nDigital applications for improving efficiency and for monitoring agricultural water use play an increasing role in the debate on small-scale irrigation in international cooperation. On the one hand\, technical processes for minimizing irrigation water and reducing the use of fertilizers as well as for energy savings in irrigation technology can be supported. On the other hand\, apps can often facilitate management processes and the monitoring of irrigation and operating systems. However\, up to now\, digital applications that specifically target small-scale irrigation have only been used sporadically and pilot-like in GIZ projects. \nAs part of a market analysis — which is supported by the Competence Centers for Agriculture and for Water\, SV Sustainable Agriculture\, SV Sustainable Waterpolicy\, Green Innovation Centres for the Agriculture and Food Sector and the Project Promotion of the productive agriculture\, Niger — the team investigating the potential of digital applications for small-scale irrigation. The aim is to identify and structure existing experiences and\, based on current developments and challenges\, to define further requirements for digital applications in this area. \n\n\n\n\n\n\nFor that reason Ralph Elsaesser was selected as a consultant to conduct a study. As a graduate engineer in electrical engineering and a graduate hydrogeologist he has been working for almost 25 years at the interface between water and IT\, for the past 10 years also in the synergy space of agriculture and computer science. \nThe study is to gather experiences from different directions. An exchange with as many discussion partners from different areas is therefore necessary. Experiences and requirements from development projects\, especially from Africa and Asia\, are interesting\, as well as knowledge from competence centers and universities or details about available technical products. The focus is on increasing efficiency of irrigation practices and sustainable use of the resource. \nRalph Elsaesser is searching more interview partners for short ~30 minute interviews via Skype or another channel. If you are available and if you have an interest in sharing your experiences please write to ralph.elsaesser@geo-solutions.de or Skype user name: relsaesser \n\n\n\n\n\n\nWho is this event for? \nMembers of the GIZ working group on water and agriculture\, experts from GIZ agriculture and water sector projects\, freelance consultants\, companies working at the interface water and agriculture\, experts from the GIZ sector networks Mediterranean Environmental Network\, Sector Network Rural Development and Services on Water and Sanitation. \nAgenda \nDownload pdf \nAdditional information \nIDA Community Water and Agriculture & Agriculture and Water explores interlinkages between those two important sectors. Visit the Community Website on IDA to stay updated on newest events and join the regular group meetings to discuss about selected topics. You have a new product or experience around Water and Agriculture or maybe a challenging task that has to do with it? The IDA Community is the right place to bring it forward.

SUMMARY:What Works in Rural Youth Employment Promotion?
DESCRIPTION:Webinar focusing on good practices and lessons from GIZ programmes with regard to rural youth employment\nSince Africa’s (rural) youth is rapidly growing in numbers\, advising on job creation has become a major objective of development cooperation. \nFor German development employment cooperation the promotion in rural areas with a focus on youth is still a relatively new topic. While the issue is becoming more pressing\, very few projects explicitly and comprehensively address the issue. \nNevertheless\, many projects of both rural and economic development\, are addressing different aspects and a range of learning experiences is already available. The Sector Project commissioned a study to outline the different approaches to rural youth employment promotion (RYEP) within GIZ programmes and distill their main success factors and lessons learned. \nThe consultants Claudia Knobloch and Christian Pirzer of Endeva are going to present the main findings and highlight two of the 11 case studies in an interactive interview. There will be plenty of time to discuss with representatives of the featured case studies\, but also amongst each other about the results and their implications.

SUMMARY:Future Market Africa !
DESCRIPTION:Table ronde d’affaires à l’AGRITECHNICA \nDe nombreuses économies africaines investissent massivement dans leurs industries agroalimentaires.

SUMMARY:How to Convince Stakeholders to Invest in a Landscape — The Economics of Forest Landscape Restoration
DESCRIPTION:Webinar with case studies from Ethiopia and Madagascar\, conducted by the FLR group which forms part of the CCLNRM Working Group\nWhat are costs and benefits of the various FLR options in the landscape? How can one convince stakeholders of the positive return of their investment in FLR measures? How can you calculate the ROI for the different FLR interventions in a particular landscape and improve project implementation from an economic point of view? \nDid you ever ask yourself similar kinds of questions because you are interested in the economic aspects of FLR? — Then our next webinar is for you! You’re welcome to join us and learn about the possibilities and constraints of a new methodology developed for measuring the economics of FLR. With the watershed of Lake Chamo in Ethiopia and mangroves in the Boeny region in Madagascar\, the methodology has been tested in two very different ecosystems and regions\, revealing interesting insights about the economics of Forest Landscape Restoration. \nYour takeaways\n\nInformation on the methodology of FLR economics\nInsights in the opportunities and constraints that economic assessments offer to FLR\nOpportunity to discuss possible implications for other regions and FLR projects\n\nPresenters\n\nLincoln Davis\, Senior Economist at UNIQUE forestry and land use\nDuncan Gromko\, Senior Economist at UNIQUE forestry and land use\n\nThis session will be conducted via Skype for Business in English. SUMMARY:Climate Change and Nutrition — How Can We Eat Below 2 Degrees?
DESCRIPTION:Webinar in the Nutrition Knowledge Snack Series \n\n\n\n\n\n\nThe planetary health diet (EAT Lancet\, 2019)\, which consists mainly of fruits\, vegetables\, whole grains and plant-based sources of protein\, is healthy for people and the planet. How can we translate recommendations to transform the food system into project implementation? By presenting examples working on the nexus between climate and nutrition\, we want to explore the collaboration between the two sectors\, its potential and challenges. \n\n\n\n\n\n\nSpeakers\n\nAnika Reinbott (SV APES)\nPauline Probst (SPA)\nKatalin Solymosi (Unique Forestry & Landuse)\n\nBackground\nLast year the ‘Food Security\, Nutrition and Resilience’ working group decided to facilitate exchange between group members in order to increase the level of learning from one another. The group identified topics of great interest to the community as well as specific learning events which are included in the work plan of the group. \nThe IDA community platforms have been set up and are already used actively. Hence\, ‘the floor is open’ for fruitful technical exchange. \nThe aims of the webinars in the Knowledge Snacks series which started in early 2019 are: \n\nTo support learning and knowledge exchange between projects on emerging relevant topics on FNSR in an informal manner\nTo facilitate virtual exchange of community members\n\nContact\n\n\n\nines.reinhard@giz.de and anika.reinbott@giz.de \n\n\n\nPhoto: © GIZ
